Developing your Assertiveness Skills

Assertiveness is a learned communication style that we can develop with practice and by doing so will improve our chances of getting what we want out of life. Learning to become more assertive also enhances self-esteem and self-confidence. It also tends to decrease feelings of anxiety typically experienced in social situations and with less anxiety and more self-confidence we will feel more self-assured which subsequently helps improve our relationships.

More importantly, assertiveness can provide us with a sense of purpose and control over our lives and circumstances. We will not be so easily victims of other people’s controlling nature.
